Nuts Club, Chongqing's premiere Live House will be closed for renovations from now until August 8th.  When we asked two of the owners what changes to expect, both could only assure us that there would be changes to the walls and flooring, and maybe some new equipment, but specifics were kept secret, though their douban page mentions changes to lighting, furniture, bathrooms, and the sound system. 
Nuts will officially re-open  the weekend of August 10th and 11th, featuring Lucky Blue(funk/jazz), Accidental Collision(old school punk) and Disorder(old school/ska punk) on the 10th, and No. 2 Story(post hardcore), Icy Pupil(rock) and Adversity(nu Metal) on the 11th. 

The Chongqing Whiskey Society hosts their second meeting on Tuesday night featuring whiskeys from the Glengoyne Distillery.  The night will feature a tasting of 3 of Glengoyne's  award-winning single malts(10, 17, & 21yr) and their Langs 12 year blended, as well as a presentation(En. & 中文).  As Glengoyne is a highland Distillery, the presentation will focus on what a 'highland' scotch is and will introduce society members to the taster's pyramid: an easy way to train your palate to recognize flavours in a single malt.

The meeting kicks off at 20:00 at the society's new home at the bar on the 39th floor of the JW Marriott.  ¥150 gets you a glass of each of the aforementioned whiskeys and the chance to buy bottles at 'trade prices.'
