P.U.S.S. @ nuts club
As the week's begining begins to fade into its' end, we here at the scene want to give you a look ahead on how we may be spending the rest of our weeks, and suggest ways for you to spend yours.  Begining tonight, Wed. the 18th at Remin Guang Chang (CQ People's Square) with Flock, a mixed-media, interactive installation by the Art collaborative  KMA. The "performance," is part of The British Council's Transforming Public Space project (which I previously mentioned here), and will resume on Friday at Chongqing Tiandi featuring the UK pop-band Lights and Sound.  Both performances start at 19:30.
On Thursday my night will be spent at The Nuts Club in Shapingba, as Fresh W. Promo(formerly Fresh World Promotions) hold their weekly "Thirsty Thursdays," featuring great drink specials(10 rmb tequila, 15 rmb gin & tonic/rum & coke) and some of the best DJs you'll find in CQ playing everything from hip-hop and rock, to IDM and electro.

 On Friday, its back to Nuts as FWP bring French indie dance-rock band P.U.S.S. to Chongqing for their "Black Friday" dance party, with themed drink specials(15 rmb jaegermeister, 2 for 15rmb black beer, 10rmb Cap'n Morgans Black).  The show begins at 20:00, and the music will go on 'til the kids stop dancin' with Dj Good Weed taking over musical duties from the Frenchmen.

On Saturday, The Chongqing Conquerors Rugby team plays host to the Beijing Aardvarks for their first home game of the season.  The match begins @ 2:30 pm, and is at the Chongqing University A campus in Shapingba(沙坪坝重庆大学A区足球场).  Rumor has it there may be free beer for fans, which should make for a good start for wherever the rest of the weekend chooses to take you.

So anyone who has ever lived in a normal city, with normal bars, has undoubtedly come across or at least heard of a pub quiz at some point in their life.  And now, on its seemingly never ending quest for normalcy, Chongqing has one as well.  The green fellow featured in our previous 'pic. of the week' has teamed up with 'The Singapore' for CQ's first ever(and hopefully soon to be weekly) pub quiz.  to quoute the green man(who's name is Yancy by the way);

    For anyone not familiar with the idea of a Pub Quiz, friends and
    knowledgeable strangers gather together in small teams, pitting their
    trivia skills against one another while generally having a pretty good
    time. We'll have 50 questions (as well as a few other means of getting
    points) each week on a wide variety of topics.  Despite our being in
    China, questions and answers will be delivered in English.

    Bring yourselves, your arsenal of useless knowledge and any friends
    you can drag along -- It's free and should be a great time!

The Singapore has not only offered up the location for the quiz, but have also generously donated gift certificates to be given away as prizes for the winners.
